Walks and Talks on the Wild Side

Don't miss the opportunity to learn more about the beautiful natural assets we enjoy right here in Hawks Nest.
Walks and Talks on the Wild Side is a very popular event of the festival and not to be missed. Getting to the festival itself is easy. There are cheap flights to and from Sydney every day and followed by a short drive up the Pacific Highway. If you are looking for accommodation please check out the link above. See below for the listing of 'Walks and Talks' events.

Spotlighting Walk
Christian Patteson: 7pm Friday 20th August and
7 pm Saturday, 21st August 2010.
Meet at Hawks Nest Newsagency.

A walk starting at Hawks Nest Newsagency towards Jimmy’s Beach, through the streets of the “Magic Square” and then down to the Singing Bridge.  With luck we will see a koala or two, bandicoots, brushtail and ringtail possums and perhaps even some dolphins.  Christian is a well-known local identity - a naturalist, author, photographer and horticulturalist.

An update on this year’s Koala activities in town, including our new babies and the new breed of families in town.  Gail & Ian are the Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens Koala Co-ordinators.

Birds of Hawks Nest

A fascinating view of the sights and sounds of a selection of the most frequently seen of the more than 280 birds that inhabit the Myall region.  Andrew & Bianca are wildlife rescuers.
